This newsletter features the writing and research of faculty, staff, students, and friends of the Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Doctor of Business Administration program. Doctoral Chevrons is published three times a year in February, June, and October.
Call for Student Submissions
We are accepting student submissions for upcoming editions of Doctoral Chevrons. Submissions discussing business research, theory, or applied business practice are welcome. Each piece should be between 500-1500 words and must follow APA guidelines. For consideration, please submit your work to mcollins@smumn.edu.

Saint Mary’s tutors and peer learning assistants are available on Knack. This tutoring is completely free, and sessions can take place in-person or online.

Saint Mary’s ‘Jazz Final’ to be performed during Island City’s December Jazz Jam
Jazz at Saint Mary’s and the H3O Jazz Trio will join forces during Saint Mary’s twice-yearly “Jazz Final” on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. during Island City Brewing Company’s monthly Jazz Jam.
Saint Mary’s Sigma Tau Delta chapter asks for book donations
The Saint Mary’s English Honor Society is hosting its annual Sigma Tau Delta Book Drive in affiliation with Better World Books. We are seeking donations of any books, especially those used in classrooms and preferably newer than 10 years old.
Students participate in Lasallian retreat
Last weekend, 38 students participated in the LIFT Retreat (Lasallians in Faith Together), formerly known as TEC (Together Encountering Christ). Students spent the weekend building community, reflecting on the Paschal mystery, and participating in faith-centered activities and discussion.
Business professor earns outstanding paper award
Andrew Scott, assistant professor of finance, recently won an award at the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) annual symposium. Scott was the lead author on a paper that won the Outstanding Symposium (Doctoral) Student Paper Award.

The fall semester is quickly winding down with a flurry of finals and busy schedules with an abundance of year-end meetings. Both the Office of Admission and Office of Financial Aid are hard at work focusing on different aspects of the recruitment process.

Saint Mary’s to show Ken Burns documentary about Mayo Clinic
Don’t miss a showing of Ken Burns’ documentary, “The Mayo Clinic: Faith – Hope – Science” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in Room 200 of the Science and Learning Center. The two-hour documentary film explores the clinic’s 150-year history and what it means to put the needs of the patient first.
