Minnesota’s COVID-19 case counts have been climbing since June, especially in the 18- to 24-year-old age group. These COVID-19 cases have occurred as a result of people gathering without social distancing at bars, restaurants, and house parties. We understand the temptation you may be feeling, particularly because you haven’t seen one another for a long period of time. But, if we are to keep Saint Mary’s learning on ground — and keep everyone safe — our expectation is that students, staff, and faculty will not put themselves in situations where social distancing and mask wearing are not being observed.
The university is strongly encouraging all students to quarantine at home for 14 days prior to their return to campus in August. The university expects students from the states of Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas to quarantine at home for 14 days prior to their return to campus in August.
Students and administrators have been meeting together for the last three weeks to discuss possible fall reopening plans for the Winona Campus. Tim Gossen, Ed.D., vice president for Student Affairs, is chairing the committee along with various administrators and student leaders.
As the spring semester ends for our graduate and undergraduate students, we now look to fall 2020. To this end, the university is focusing its attention on preparing for the return of students in the fall.
